I am interested in how materials inform my thoughts and how my thoughts shape materials in what I call an infinite ‘dialectical process’.   This is an ongoing process of my journey as an artist.   This process is about the correlation between ‘thought - material - movement’ and how each would inform and influence the other.   As a result, I claim that this process is infinite and transformative.   Because of the important element of time contained in myself and in the process of ‘journeying’, anything I create cannot be linear - containing a beginning and an end, the so called ‘finished artwork’.    It has to become timeless, profound and it has to be in context with the continuity of my life in this unknown journey.

’Dialectical Process’ happens in the ‘doing’, in the action, in the process.   The material informs the idea, and the idea informs the material which then transforms the creator (the individual) resulting in a new form, a new art.   The process as an evolving progression between old and new ideas, materials and thoughts being explored and revisited in many different ways, as if there was never a ‘final’ artwork but each work acting as a bridge to another, over and over again.

In essence, I say that ‘artists are philosophers in practice’.   While philosophers tend to use theoretical approaches to comprehend the mysteries of life and human behaviour, artists use creativity and visual language to create unique responses to the same fundamental questions.

Beuys for me has revolutionised the principles of art with his  concept of ‘Social Sculpture’, as he describes it in his Untitled Statement (1973):

“…the concepts of sculpting can be extended to the invisible materials used by everyone:

Thinking Forms        how we mould our

                                     thoughts or

Spoken Forms          how we shape our thoughts

                                     into words or

Social Structure        how we mould and shape

                                     the world in which we live:

                                     Sculpture as an evolutionary process;

                                     everyone an artist “

This concept is the most profound and generous approach to art ever created because it places art at the heart of society where everyone’s creativity acts as the moving force to creating personal and social changes.
